Tattoos, Sharks and Race Cars in Atlanta
I’ve been in Atlanta this week for our annual Microsoft sales meeting/event. This means meetings, meetings and more meetings. When not in meetings, I was at parties with co-workers. There was very little sleep involved, because as you can see, the parties were fun and I didn’t want to miss out on any of it. At one of the parties, I tried out a spray-on tattoo for the night (people said they liked it and I was the only one to have it painted on my neck), I saw some wildlife at the aquarium, sat in a race car just because it was there and saw Maroon 5 and Bon Jovi in concert. I’ve never been to an outdoor concert when it started pouring rain on the crowd, but that made it even more entertaining. It dumped on us for about 20 minutes during the Bon Jovi set and since it was a warm Atlanta downpour, that meant that everyone was completely drenched. I hope my clothes dry before I pack them and catch my flight home in the morning.
Confused Taxi
I just landed in Atlanta, Georgia in time for a massive downpour. Got in a taxi and told him my hotel and as we pulled away he said OK and handed me his GPS to program. I’ve never experienced that before!
Thankfully I had the address with me (always be prepared) and figured out how his GPS worked, which had UK terms on it, not American. I wonder how he got his hands on it, but as long as I make it to the hotel I won’t care (I’m in the taxi as I type this).
I Saw A Flying Guppy

Yesterday, while out for a walk, I looked up and saw a beast of a plane flying over Seattle. As I learned later (from Mike, our pilot friend), it was the Super Guppy. It flew into Seattle while delivering the space shuttle trainer to the Museum of Flight.
Busby’s First Haircut and Head Cold
Busby has now had is first haircut and is now fighting his first head cold. I don’t think they’re related though. We are slowly getting used to seeing his eyes, but I think they’re a bit closer together than normal. Other dogs don’t seem to care though, since he is now proficient at playing … and playing, and playing, and playing.
New Busby Photos
He is now about 4 months old and still hasn’t had a haircut.
Busby’s Fame Begins
Earlier this evening, I shared the rainy photo of Seattle via Twitter. Rob Koch of WeatherNation TV saw the photo and asked if he could show it on the air. I followed it up with a photo of Busby walking in the rain, to which he replied:
@BrianGroth U know TV, Babies, Animals & Car Chases = Ratings. Love it.
So now, both of these photos should appear between 9 pm & midnight tonight (Central timezone) on weathernationtv.com or KARE 11.2 in Minnesota.
The first one is the view from Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood, obscured by just a bit of rain. The other one is Busby, our 3-month old standard poodle. He doesn’t seem to care if he gets rained on or not, even though his long hair acts like a sponge.
Busby Conquers The Stairs
Busby has been able to go up the stairs for a couple of weeks now (he is 3 1/2 months old), but after a bit of practice this weekend, he is now able to go down the stairs too. Hopefully that means I no longer have to carry him down the stairs in the early morning when I can barely make it down them myself (he wakes up at about 5am).
This of course means he has full run of the house if he isn’t in his cage or crate. That could be a problem!
