Leaving America

We have dropped off Milo at British Airways Cargo and are now in terminal 7 at JFK waiting to depart. Both of us just called our parents and Lorie is now trading our remaining US cash for GBP.

Nest stop London!

Bigger Than Life in NY Times Square

September 29, 2006 2 comments

Today while Lorie took a nap, I took Milo for a walk around Times Square and up and down Broadway between 42nd and 52nd. While trying to take pictures of Milo with Times Square in the background, someone with a new Blackberry asked if they could take our picture so it would appear on the big screen. I said sure and they snapped this one, which appeard about a minute later. The people taking the photos seemed pretty excited by us – probably because all the other photos were of couples looking like normal tourists. Some other guy with a pretty professional looking camera took our picture too, but I didn’t ask what he was doing.

So on our last full day in America, we got a little bit of notoriety!

By the way, when walking with him down the sidewalk, just about everyone quickly clears a path for us so walking through a crowd is no problem at all.

We have made it to NY!
To my surprise New Jersey was beautiful too, as is this area of New York, which is an hour north of Manhattan. Milo is excited to be running around Rob and Diane’s big yard with their dog Dakota and Lorie now has a head cold.We have a vet appointment on Friday for Milo, then fly out on Saturday.

Ripley Update

Ripley didn’t like her perfect new adpoted home, so she is back to Gretchen’s farm for good. Normally not being adopted would be a bad thing, but in this case it is a great thing. Gretchen and her family of temporary rescue dogs and large farm is perfect for Ripley. Aparently, she was howling at the adopted home so much that everyone decided she was homesick for the farm. So now Ripley will get to be Gretchen’s dog full-time and help mother the rescue dogs, go mt. biking with Gretchen, and run around the farm having a great life. Lorie and I cound’t be happier! Milo doesn’t seem to care though.

Made it to Danville, PA

We got tired of driving so called it quits at a Best Western in Danville. So far, Pennsylvania is the prettiest state we’ve driven through on the trip.Too many trucks and road construction though.

Rock & Roll Museum

Today in Cleveland I went to the Rock & Roll Museum while Lorie and Milo went to a cool warehouse area, found a Starbucks and played scrabble online. The museum has a ton of interesting stuff, so if you ever get a chance, I highly suggest it.

We are off to New York today, so we have our final long day on the road today/tonight.

Tower of Power at the House of Blues

We went with Andy and Lourdes see the Tower of Power play tonight in Chicago at the House of Blues. They played `What is hip’ and a few other of their hits. I highly suggest catching them in concert and seeing anyone at the HoB.
