Baseball might be my new sport
When I was in grade school, I was the pitcher for t-ball. Yes, I was that kid.
When in college, our softball team never won a game. Jeff might have cared, but I never noticed.
102 years later, my ball-hitting career has, um, …
While at Mistral Kitchen in Seattle tonight, the owner and a few others (specifically, it was myself, my friend Tanarin, a woman from Washington DC, 2 people from the kitchen and the bartender) decided to practice batting with some fruit. Actually, it was the owner who suggested we hit some lemons and limes, so I take no responsibility, other than that of an entertained batter.
Never one to skip out on bashing some fruit, I said “let’s go” and we proceeded to spray ourselves with citrus. Yes, if you hit a lemon with a softball bat, it sprays all over you. Thankfully, I like smelling like lemons. Tanarin captured these shots of me as I covered Westlake Ave. with the sweet smell of lemon.
By the way, this looks the same as my golf swing, but it doesn’t smell like grass when I swing.
My first Napa bicycle ride
With uncle Bob as my lead, we rode about 29 miles in 2 hours up and around the hills of Suisun and Napa counties. No action photos since I was hanging on to the road bike the entire time. It was exhausting and fun!
Busby’s First Beach Experience
Today, Busby was able to experience the beach for the first time, followed by a short hike to overlook a different beach. His owner had a good day, so I suspect he did too.
You might recognize the famous Daisy, who was pictured numerous times with Milo. I’m not sure she likes these tall hyper dogs that we have, but she certainly has fun chasing a ball regardless of the tall dog bothering her.
To truly capture the moment, Busby and Daisy opted to star in a little movie: The Busby Beach Movie.
Neighbors
Busby and Mochi are neighbors and often hang out in the garden, on the stairs and in our flat. When they can, they get in a good run at the dog park together.
Lorie rides in the SF Pride Parade
A couple of our neighbors help put together the old cars that drive the Celebrity Grand Marshals in the San Francisco Pride parade, which is a pretty big parade for San Francisco. This year, they asked if Lorie wanted to ride along! She did, and ended up sharing a car with Tabatha Coffey, who was a Celebrity Grand Marshal for the parade this year. I watched and took photos from the sidelines as Lorie took photos from within the car as it went down the parade route. After the parade, she also got to go backstage and stand on the side of the stage where performers entertained the crowd.
The boat streetcar
We don’t see this one out too often, but it is one of the streetcars that run up and down Market st and to Fisherman’s wharf.
Cooking School–June 2013
As a gift for our 13th anniversary, we took a vegetarian cooking class from the San Francisco Cooking School. I chopped way too many vegetables, but all the dishes the students created were great.
