London Calling

I got the paperwork from the Microsoft HR folks in the UK, so we are one step closer. The photo is from 2001 and is of Lorie in a phone booth, since you know, Americans can never get enough of the red British phone booths. I wonder what they’re used for now days since most people have cell phones?

Learning about sake

To all our friends and family who wonder why Lorie and I prefer sake over other drinks, perhaps you’ll see that we are simply leading the way here on the West coast of the US. See this article from the Seattly PI: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/food/276300_sake05.html

New Phone with auto-updated phone numbers

Hopefully you are using Windows Live Messenger, because I just got a new Uniden phone and it’s very cool. It can be a normal phone and into your PC via a USB cable. I pulled it out of the box, plugged it into my PC, and it automatically updated itself with all of my contacts that I have in WL Messenger. You see, WL Messenger has a feature that can keep your friends/family contact info up to date whenever someone updates their contact info. (see http://get.live.com/messenger/features#E2AAC for more info).

This means that my new home phone can always have my contact’s latest phone numbers and I don’t have to do anything other than have them on my "buddy" list in WL Messenger.

Video Phone Calls with Brian and Lorie

Hey friends and family,

When Lorie and Brian are in London we plan to use Windows Live Messenger to talk to you. Microsoft has some new webcams coming that will make it VERY easy to both talk and see each other (live video) via Windows Live Messenger. So once you can buy Microsoft’s webcams, we’ll be bugging you to go buy them.

Lorie and I just saw it on June 3rd and were pretty surprised to learn just how far along we are into global warming. It is causing us to focus more on our biodiesel car and reconsider lighting we put into our new house.

Our Future Life in London

April 28, 2006 Leave a comment

Lorie and I have been in London for 3 weeks looking for a place to live, get a bank account, and just get a feel for the city. Dysfunctional bureaucracy pretty much defines the UK! Hopefully Lorie and I will eventually discover why people love it here, or at least like it. We don’t smoke and aren’t big beer drinkers, so I’m sure that’s going to hamper our experience. The photos offer a glimpse of our upcoming new life…. once work permits, dog quarantine, moving, and holidays are over.
