OK, last car topic. But, when you do drive in Amsterdam you have to park somewhere, unless of course you are just blocking traffic temporarily. Thankfully, there are many blue signs and places to pay. At least it looks that way until you are in a car and there are no free spots! Notice how easy it can be to accidently park in a canal.

A practical car in Amsterdam is one that you can drive down a sidewalk, bike path, and park anywhere. I have no idea if any of that is legal though.

Not that I have one, but people who do need to look for a spot to plug them in. Most of the electric cars are new, but I appreciate the converted old VW Beetle.

Usually any delivery van, dog walker van, and home owner will eventually have to stop in the middle of the road and park there for a minute. That backs up traffic a little, but when people are moving and doing construction, it really messes things up. That happens all over the city, all the time.

I’ve already shared a series of photos for “30 Days of Amsterdam Canal Houses” and “30 Days of Amsterdam Art“, so now it is time to see what everyday life is like in Amsterdam. Or at least in March 2018, which is when I took all the photos that I’ll share throughout April 2018.

The first one is very Dutch: cheese, at your local cheese shop.
