Busby Meets Snow and Grass
As it turns out, Busby loves running in the snow and grass. Saturday had us up at Snoqualmie Pass, where he got to run around in the snow while attempting to eat large quantities of it. Then, Sunday in Seattle was sunny and he got to run around a on a big patch of grass, also trying to eat what he could when I let him stop running.
I’ve also got a short video of Busby bouncing around in the snow.
Busby’s New Hobby
When we let Buzz outside on our patio, he runs over to the bamboo to grab a bite of something to chew on. Sometimes these are “drive by” grabs as he runs under them, jumping up to grab some on the move. I don’t think he eats it, just chews on it for a while, spits it out then goes back for more.
Busby Learns To Destroy Paper
Busby has a new hobby: Grabbing stuff and bringing it to his pen to chew on. Thankfully, he has only done this with his toys and packing paper. We’ve got a fun video of him doing this too.
Unlike Milo, Busby only tears the paper apart, not eat it.
Sleeping Busby
He doesn’t care if the exercise ball rolls onto his head. Probably because he likes to sleep under things.
The first week with Busby
Busby has started to come out of his shell, while growing a bit too. At least he seems bigger one week after we got him! So far, some things he does that seem to be part of his personality are:
- He likes to nap near us, preferably under the table if we’re working there
- He sits and watches the world or sometimes just sits to wait for us
- He is afraid of intense situations and intense people, but intense dogs don’t seem to bother him too much, unless there are a bunch of them.
- He doesn’t play well with other dogs yet (he’s a bully), but we are attending many puppy classes to work on that.
- He’s daddy’s boy: yes, he runs to me for protection
Busby’s First days in Seattle
Busby has been trying to play ball (see the video) and is now starting to get the hang of it (see the other video).
Name Change: Ozzie is now Busby
He didn’t seem to care for the name Oz or Ozzie so we have gone with a name we’ve accidentally used a few times: Busby, or Buzz for short.
The Puppy is Fuzzy
We picked up our new family member today, which is a standard sized poodle. He’s the big boy of the litter, so we figure he’ll end up weighing about 60 pounds when he’s full grown. He’s only 9 weeks old now.
His demeanor is … stoned and a bit demanding. He wants to be held and played with, but is happy to just pass out on the floor and sometimes just sit down and look at you. He isn’t very hyper and doesn’t need to sit on top of us, so he’s quite a bit different than Milo.
Welcome to the family Oz!
