This is our neighbor’s house. They are digging out the basement through a front window. The construction equipment usually blocks the sidewalk during the day.

Day Trip to Cascais from Lisbon
To the west of Lisbon is a great little town, 45 minutes by train, 25 by car. We have a friend there who gave us a tour of the town and introduced us to a great place to sample wine and port.

Lisbon Trams
The trams started in Lisbon in the 1800s and originally came from the USA. Most of the trams are still from the early 1900s and are meant to help people both get across the city and up and over the hills.

We tried the traditional egg custard tarts, which were good, and the traditional fried cod/potato balls, which were not our favorite.
