On the road: From Salt Lake City to Chicago
September 18, 2006

We are in Rawlins, Wyoming tonight (Sunday) and plan to be in Winter Park, Colorado on Monday night, then cruising through Denver over to North Platte, Nebraska. I wouldn’t consider most of these stops all that exciting, but at lease we are seeing some parts of the country we hadn’t before. Most of the time, many of the small towns (some are basically trailer parks) makes us look forward to London all that much more.

We got to Berkeley on Monday and went to the dog park to have Milo burn off some energy and to give him a bath. We plan to drive to Reno on Thursday.

We had visions of making to Berkeley today, but got to Redding and needed some rest. So we’ll take it easy tonight and relax a bit.
Thanks,

We of course had to have one more hit of sushi before heading out of town. So, we went to Blue C one last time with Kim and Cindy.

Yes, the Microsoft campus in Redmond has practically been my home for 12 years. We leave it behind today (not Milo who is sitting on the sign) as we start our cross-country drive, eventually landing in London.
Saying goodbye to Ripley

We visited Ripley today and had to say goodbye for at least until we are back in Seattle and can arrange a visit. While she was happy to see us, it’s obvious that she is amazingly comfortable, happy, and more at home than anywhere she’s ever been before. That certainly makes it easy to say goodbye, but we’ll still miss her. I don’t think she’ll miss us nearly as much since she is having such a good time with Gretchen and all the dogs on the farm.

The purple couch and picture of Mt. Rainer fit, although Lorie hasn’t really "arranged" everything yet.
