A Great Ad: Shish, this one is for you

CadburyApeI have no idea what this has to do with selling anything related to Cadbury, but I like it. Shish, this one is for you.

(Everyone else, Shish is learning to play the drums and Phil Collins is the drummer and lead vocals for this song. We geeked out at the House of Blues this summer watching the band Live.)

World Teacher’s Day

October 5, 2007 Leave a comment

RedApple October 5th is World Teacher’s Day so thanks to all the teacher’s I’ve had, especially the ones at Western Washington University who got me more interested in physics, philosophy, and environmental studies. I don’t know what those have to do with computer science and business (I have a degree in Management Information Systems), but they were my favorite courses. I was already interested in computers before I got there due to my dad bringing home a Compaq "luggable" sewing-machine sized PC in the early 1980’s.

And of course, my parents were two of my best teachers by teaching me to "get out and play" (my mom) and to "learn something new every day" (my dad). I of course took this to mean do things like go helicopter skiing, make computers work for me, travel the world, and move to London. I doubt they anticipated those activities, but I appreciate the teachings that got me where I am today.

Note: World Teacher’s Day is different from those regular Teacher’s Days that happen in different countries at different times of the year. At least according to Wikipedia… one day I hope we can plug our brains right into wikipedia so we don’t have to bother teachers with mundane trivia and historical facts. smile_regular

Places Traveled in One Year

In October 2006, Lorie, Milo, and I landed in London. One year later, we own a new flat and are still attempting to adjust to the English way of life. OK, we figured out the pub life within minutes, but other than that it is all still quite new to us. Inspired by Alan’s map of where he and Megan have been, I created a map of where we have been since arriving here one year ago.

I will updated this map as we go to new places. Up next are Milan, Italy and Madrid, Spain, which we’ve never been to. See http://maps.live.com/?v=2&cid=817ED2A8693B5FC7!3113&encType=1
